FRED
Alfred or Fred for intimates or Freddy… for neighbours, acquaintance, friends, land clearer…
Pet name as well as the folk story teller Fred Pellerin and even brother André, A lfred Bessette, that was certainly called Fred during his childhood before he became the blissful we know today.
Two Val d’Espoir pionners were Alfred: Alfred-William and Alfred-Antoine Anderson. They were cousins and they accomplished their hard work to the establishment of the colony before it became a parish in 1932. They were called Fred à William and Fred à Antoine. The first was married to Salomée Boutin and the second one was married to Delphine Duguay.
There have been many other “Alfred” who settled on the can road of the village: Alfred Nadeau husband of Irène Vallée, Alfred Rail husband of Bernadette Bourget, Alfred Lapointe husband of Anita Dégarie, Alfred Prévost husband of Marie-Rose Béliveau, Alfred Michaud husband of a Mrs Liboiron, Alfred Duquette husband of Yvonne Young, Alfred Blais, and many more…
They were called either Fred, or Ti-Fred, or Freddy!
They represent all the Pionneers that with their hard work founded and developed the Village of Val d’Espoir!
Hurrah all Fred, Frederic, Alfred, etc of our part of the country!
